I've been working hard the last few weeks on Rylan's pictures exchange communication system (PECS). Traditionally, they are in a binder and Rylan would take the picture of the item she wants and then give it to either Adam, myself, the grandparents, or the nurse. We made it a bit simplier for her and made boards that go with rooms. For the kitchen, she has a board on the fridge with all her food/eating pictures. In the family room, we have various activities. She does so well with this! She LOVES asking for things and being a demanding 2 year old! She will even throw a fit if you don't do what she says! Such a blessing!!!

so long!
I haven't posted here in...FOREVER! I been posting a bit on Rylan's CaringBridge site and well, life has been crazy! I'm not even going to attempt to play catch up!
So...
This month has filled up quickly with appointments and therapy sessions. Rylan gets speech therapy 2x a week and behaviorial therapy 1x week now. In speech, we are working on sign language and picture communication. Because her fingers don't always work well with her for some of the fine motor signs, pictures is a great option for her! And she loves it!! She has caught on and has really been "talking" with us more. Don't ask me about behavioral therapy, I'm not sure what we are doing there!
Dakota is potty trained and talking up a store. She is big into role playing and singing songs. She is such an awesome kid!
We see dermatology for Rylan, eye doctor for Dakota and then at the end of the month Rylan has her cleft repaired! I am so excited for that, because we will be one step closer to getting the darn trach out!!!
